What currency is accepted?

St. Lucia uses the Eastern Caribbean Dollar (XCD; symbol EC$) = 100 cents. Notes are in denominations of EC$100, 50, 20, 10 and 5. Coins are in denominations of EC$1, and 50, 25, 10, 5, 2 and 1 cents. The Eastern Caribbean Dollar is tied to the US Dollar at a rate of US$1 = EC$2.70.

Credit cards, travellers cheques and US currency are accepted virtually everywhere on the island.

Is there a dress code at Smugglers Cove?

The tropical climate and relaxed atmosphere of St. Lucia lend themselves to casual attire. Shoes must be worn, bathing suits must be covered and men are required to wear shirts with sleeves in all restaurants. After 6 pm, nice casual attire (no shorts or shorts ensembles) is suggested.

Do I need a special adapter for the electrical outlets in my room?

Electric current is the same as in the US, so no special adapters are needed. The electricity in St. Lucia is 110 and 220 voltage.

What are the entry requirements to St. Lucia?

Entry requirements St. Lucia vary by citizenship. Please check with your appropriate State Department prior to travel to ensure you have proper documentation. Upon leaving, a per person departure tax is payable at the airport. Please note, the wearing of camouflage clothing, or to be in possession of camouflage bags is considered illegal in St. Lucia for anyone not in the military services.

Entry requirements for US nationals: United States passport holders must have a passport or a Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) compliant document, or a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, as well as proof of citizenship, such as an original or certified birth certificate. US citizens may stay for up to six weeks without a visa.

Entry requirements for UK nationals: UK citizens must hold a valid passport. A visa is not required for a stay of up to six weeks.

Entry requirements for Canadians: Canadians may enter St Lucia with a passport, or a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, as well as proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate. No visa is required for a stay of up to six weeks.

Entry requirements for Australians: Australians require a valid passport to enter St Lucia. A visa is required, which can be obtained on arrival for a fee of US$ 50 for a stay of up to six weeks.

Does St. Lucia participate in Daylight Savings Time?

St. Lucia is in the Atlantic Time Zone, but do not observe Daylight Savings Time. In the winter months, we are 4 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), and in the summer months we are 5 hours behind British Summer Time. Throughout the winter months, we are one hour later than US Eastern Standard Time, while in the summer we are on the same time as Eastern Daylight Time.
